~~~ Check around your property where snakes could be
hiding. Under debris, in and around wooded areas, along the
side of ditches, (good spots) abandoned buildings and sheds.
~~~ We will check around your home for places where snakes
could gain access to the inside of your house cracks, holes,
open areas, etc.

~~~ A crawl space inspection (if you have one) should be done
as it is a favorite place for snakes to seek shelter and find
food.
~~~ If a snake is found we will remove and release it in an
area where it would be safe and not cause any more problems
for you or the snake.

~~~ We also provide a laminated 8 1/2 x 11 color snake sheet
with our local snakes. We give this out so our customers have
a reference sheet for any other snake encounters.
~~~JB's Rattles will also have a sit down with the customer
and explain in detail what type of snake they could be dealing
with. How to tell if a snake is venomous or not.

~~~ If you or we find a snake skin we will tell you if it a
venomous snake or not and what type it is (if there is enough
skin to identify the species).
~~~ We will be willing to answer any questions or concerns
you might have during our inspection.

We would appreciate if you should find a snake please don’t
kill it, use a broom or a rake and put it in a bucket or trash
can call and we will respond promptly.

Let me explain to you why running into snakes is becoming more of a problem
now than ever before. As our population continues to grow and new
developments go up, we are taking away there natural habitat and pushing
these snakes into tighter and tighter areas in which to live. So of course
running into them is going to become more common. The reason why snakes
like to share our dwellings is because not only does it make a great place for
shelter, but there is also a great deal of food for them to feed upon such as rats,
mice, frogs, lizards and of course those pesky insects. Our homes provide
shelter for these animals as well. Snakes have earned a bad reputation because
some of our snakes are venomous (Pit Vipers) and sometimes unfortunately
bites do occur. This is the biggest reason why most people fear them and think
every snake they see is venomous. But, there is a lot more non venomous than
there is venomous snakes. Believe it or not they are more afraid of you than
you are of them. When bites do occur, it is in self defense. Their motive is not to
hunt down and kill people we are the trespassers not them. (Snakes do not
chase you). I know it might seem like that, but sometimes your imagination can
be worse or bigger than any snake. They don’t have good vision or hearing and
prefer to slither away rather than to take a stand and fight, especially to
someone as big as us. If you corner them and they feel threatened, their instinct
is to defend themselves at all cost. This is usually when bites occur or when
there mishandling is involved. Another reason why snakes like to live under our
homes and of course your paths can accidentally cross, is because your home
will provide a cool, damp area in the summer especially on very hot days as it
does the same for its prey. If you have a heating system that runs under your
home this will provide a great heat source for them on colder days and nights.
The venomous snakes we have are called (Pit Vipers) due to the fact they have
a pit between there eye and nose that acts as a special heat sensor to help
them locate and find prey, even in the dark. Did you know that rats, mice and
insects, their main food source, do more damage to you or your home and
property than any snake could. That’s why it’s its so important to have these
reptiles around. They help keep the balance of Mother Nature, and you don’t
want to make her mad, you know how she can get. Without snakes we would
be over run by these rodents and bugs. Another neat fact you should know is
that our venomous snakes give birth to live young. Where the other guys (The
Non Venomous) eggs, except the Garter snake. Like our pit vipers they give
birth to live young and a lot of their young won’t survive (from both type of
species). When they are born the odds are against them already. As they will fall
to prey or disease and unfortunately most hatchlings don’t make it and this is
bad. So when we kill them, we make the odds of their chance for survival even
less. Please think about this information I gave you before you kill any snake
you might encounter. “ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS CALL ME,” we do need them;
they do serve a purpose, even the venomous ones.
